Pianist Andile Yenana will be paying a heartfelt tribute to legendary Feya Faku at The One Room Music & Comedy Club, Gqeberha on Saturday 29 November. Born Fezile Faku on 06 June 1962 in New Brighton, the trumpeter and flugelhornist was globally recognized for his contribution to Jazz until his passing on 23 June 2025, aged 63. One of Gqeberha’s most beloved sons was awarded the Council Prestige Award by the Nelson Mandela University in 2011.

Feya Faku was more than a towering musical figure. He was a mentor, collaborator and elder whose sound carried the heartbeat of South African Jazz. His horn spoke the language of home, spirituality and memory, connecting generations through music that deeply rooted in community and truth. Faku recorded and performed with some of the greatest musicians which made him a global citizen who felt at home just about everywhere he went.
