KwaNdengezi born pianist Vincent Mtetwa will be touring KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng performing music from his acclaimed album “Judgement Day” in March and April. It is not a secret that this body of work is very close to his heart. He will give music lessons to young musicians in some of the venues where he will be performing. Dates of his performances are Human Rights Day 21 March at Bean Jazz Lounge, Durban at 20h00, Isivivane Arts Centre, Hammarsdale on 30 March at 15h00, Niki’s Jazz Restaurant, Johannesburg at 18h00, and Kgothatso Laka Music Academy, Johannesburg on 05 April at 10h00.
The recording which is Gospel fused with Jazz has seen Mtetwa collaborating with artists such as drummer Sibusiso Zondi, bassist Mbonisi Nhleko, saxophonist Jerry Kunene, poet and actress Singqazu Ngcobo. Singqazu has appeared in several drama series on Showmax, eTV, and many DSTV channels. In addition, she has written a book titled “Amaloba The Traces” which includes poem “Africa my Africa”. Mtetwa is an accomplished Jazz pianist and a B Prac (Bachelor of Practical Music) graduate from University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). He worked as a music lecturer for a decade. His career has seen him performing throughout the country and internationally as a Jazz musician, as well as with traditional African musicians in South Africa.

He has shared the stage with many great musicians including Madala Kunene, Umkhumbane Jazz Ensemble, Hugh Masekela, Jimmy Dludlu, Selaelo Selota, Caiphus Semenya, Brian Thusi and many others. Some of these performances occurred at major festivals such as Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Arts Alive Festival, Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival, Grahamstown Jazz Festival, Awesome Africa, MTN Jazz Festival and KZN International Jazz Festival.
The maestro has co-produced the album “Ezintabeni” by Umkhumbane Jazz Ensemble. In 2014, he worked with the COPA Academy in Kensington, Johannesburg, as a music lecturer. In the same year, he performed with Madala Kunene, as resident band keyboard player at Carnegie Hall, New York. Another performance he took part in was Ubuntu Festival with Hugh Masekela and Ladysmith Black Mambazo which marked 20 years of democracy in South Africa, also in 2014. For over 21 years, he has been involved with different churches, as a musical director and keyboard player.
