Musik Clinic, a wellness initiative dedicated to the health and longevity of musicians, will host its inaugural seminar in Sandton, Johannesburg at Let’s Go To Glory Worship Centre on Friday 14 August. Founded by acclaimed Jazz drummer, composer, and educator Sphelelo Mazibuko, the initiative is designed to equip musicians with the knowledge and practical tools they need to care for their health and build sustainable careers.

Recognizing that many artists lack the knowledge and resources to adequately care for their bodies, Musik Clinic was established to bridge this gap. The initiative seeks to educate and empower musicians with practical tools and expert insights that support their health, prevent injury, and enable long, fulfilling careers in the music industry.

Through the iteration of its inaugural one-day seminar, the insightful event will bring together a multidisciplinary panel of medical professionals who will share specialized knowledge tailored to the unique physical demands of musicians. Sessions will cover injury prevention, body maintenance, recognizing when to seek professional care, and strategies for recovery and rehabilitation. Through this platform, Musik Clinic aims to foster a culture of awareness, resilience, and proactive health management within South Africa’s music industry.

“As musicians, we spend years developing our craft, yet we sometimes overlook the importance of maintaining the very instrument that makes that possible, which is our health and bodies. Having spent the past year in treatment for nerve pain, my journey to recovery highlighted a critical yet often overlooked reality that musicians, much like athletes, rely heavily on their physical well-being to perform at their best. Musik Clinic exists to provide artists with the knowledge and resources they need to protect their health and enjoy long, sustainable careers”, Sphelelo said.

The inaugural Musik Clinic Seminar will be held on Friday, 14 August 2026, starting at 10h00 at Let’s Go To Glory Worship Center in Sandton. Tickets are available for R350 and R150 for students via Quicket. Musicians, music educators, students, and industry professionals are invited to attend this landmark event and become part of a movement that places artist wellness at the forefront of South Africa’s creative industry.
