UKZN Centre for Jazz and Popular Music will host the 2026 Instrumental Showcase on Wednesday 09 September. Featured on this extraordinary musicianship are talented students from the institution’s School of Arts Music Programme. Enthusiasts can expect an engaging evening of live music as the next generation of performers takes centre stage.

Among the featured musicians are pianist Phethokuhle Shozi, bassist Zolile Mgqatsa, saxophonist Jude Miller, and trumpeter Phakamile Mtshali, alongside many more talented student musicians. The showcase promises to be a celebration of instrumental performance and the vibrant musical talent emerging from UKZN. The young musicians will be performing tunes from composers such as Bheki Mseleku, Freddie Hubbard and Andile Yenana.

The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music is located at Level 2, Dennis Shepstone Building, Howard College Campus. Tickets are available at the door, selling at R130 for general public, R100 for pensioners and R70 for students with a valid card. Doors open at 17h00 and the concert starts at 17h30.
